Travelled to Gay Dawn Farm for this top of the table clash in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division.

The drive was perilous… up narrow winding country lanes with limited passing places – only to find the road I needed was closed and that I’d have to divert back on myself. At one point I was stuck with four cars trying to inch past a lorry on one of those banked country lanes with tree roots and hedgerow flanking me! Finally made it to the ground and walked up the drive to see a formidable clubhouse and facilities. (First house in a ground I’ve seen since Craven Cottage!) the stands were impressive too with one looking like it had been created from a farm hayrick!two bus stops were also used to provide covered standing areas.

The game rightly stood up to its billing as the non league game of the day in Kent. When I left with four minutes left Corinthian were 3-2 up with me having witnessed my first hat-trick of the season. (Emmanuel Olaloyede). When I got home I saw that Sheppey United had come back and won the match 3-4, with two goals in a ten minutes extended time period!
A unique ground and a great team. Well worth a visit!!

A unique stadium. The farm is a great venue. I love it there.
