Wimborne Town v Gosport Borough – Tuesday 20th October 2026 – New Cuthbury Stadium

The Wyatt Homes Stadium, traditionally known to groundhoppers as New Cuthbury, represents a brilliant blueprint for modern non-league ground design. Opened in December 2020 on Parmiter Drive after Wimborne Town FC left their historic century-old home, this purpose-built facility was constructed by S&C Slatter to meet stringent FA Sports Ground Grading C specifications. With a total capacity of 3,250, the ground is smartly laid out to generate a fantastic atmosphere. It features excellent, fully covered standing terraces right behind both goals—a massive hit for vocal home and away support—alongside two pitch-level seated stands that accommodate roughly 300 spectators. The playing surface itself is a pristine, meticulously maintained natural turf pitch, supplemented by a top-tier 3G training pitch on-site to anchor the club’s growing academy and community setups

Wimborne Town are enjoying an exciting 2026-27 season, currently balancing a steady mid-table campaign in the Southern League Premier Division South with historic knockout success. Under the expert guidance of manager Tim Sills, who famously led the Magpies to their first league title in 24 years back in 2024, the team has turned their home ground at the Wyatt Homes Stadium into a fortress. Despite falling slightly behind on their league schedule due to heavy cup commitments, Sills has built a vibrant, youthful squad that sits comfortably in 12th place, after securing explosive results, such as an incredible 6-3 victory over Havant & Waterlooville. The pinnacle of the campaign so far came in mid-October, when the Magpies pulled off a monumental 1-0 upset against National League South side Chelmsford City to book their place in the FA Cup First Round Proper for only the second time in the club’s history.

This remarkable run has been heavily fueled by a clinical frontline that has adapted beautifully to intense multi-competition football. Exciting new signing Ángel Díaz has wasted no time hitting the ground running, leading the charge as the club’s current top scorer with a brilliant return of 4 goals. Meanwhile, forward Will Fletcher has provided crucial firepower and consistency across both the league and cup formats, netting 3 goals. Supported by the attacking talents of Joe Smith and veteran influence of Josh McQuoid, the Magpies’ frontline has shown immense tactical versatility. With the momentum of their historic FA Cup qualification and plenty of games in hand, Wimborne Town look primed to climb the league table and push the boundaries of their record-breaking era.

It has been a chaotic and whirlwind 2026–27 season for Gosport Borough F.C. in the Southern League Premier Division South, defined far more by dramatic off-pitch managerial upheavals than their mixed on-pitch form. The club entered the campaign under Simon Lane, but he was sensationally sacked after just two matches. Assistant manager Jermaine McGlashan then took the reins, initially on an interim basis before guiding the team to a string of improved performances and landing the permanent job in mid-September. However, McGlashan’s permanent tenure lasted a mere three weeks; he resigned in early October due to personal reasons. The Boro find themselves hunting for their third permanent boss of the season, with veteran defender Rory Williams currently steadying the ship as interim player-manager.

Despite the instability in the dugout, Gosport have managed to maintain a respectable mid-table presence, showing plenty of resilience. Their attack has been spearheaded by reliable veteran frontman Dan Wooden and defender Jerry Wiltshire, who have both emerged as the club’s joint-top scorers so far, netting three goals apiece. Full-back Kris Campbell has also chipped in with important goals to keep the side competitive. While the lack of consistency has hindered a true promotion push, the foundational goal-scoring form of Wooden and Wiltshire gives the interim management a solid platform as the club aims to finalize its next managerial appointment and find some much-needed stability.
