For what I believe may be my final match of the season, I visited the home of FC Revo, of the Sevenoaks & District League. This league feeds into the Kent County League structure. Post-lockdown, last April and May, I had attended a number of games in this league and had been impressed with the quality of passing and the combative nature of the fixtures.

This season, FC Revo, with two games still to complete, have won the title, securing eleven wins from 16 matches, with only two defeats. Their opponents today, Southborough, are in 9th place in the league, with just four wins from their 17 fixtures.

Goals have been plentiful this season for FC Revo, with their goal machine, Adam Davies-Knight, bagging 23 goals, to date, ably supported by Jackson Murraine, with 10.

The game was very evenly fought for the first half hour in glorious sunshine. Southborough had clear chances to score, although FC Revo kept pressing through their midfield and had much of the possession, without looking like converting it into a goal.

Then out of the blue, in the 36th minute, FC Revo were awarded a penalty, when a foul was committed, in the box. The penalty was converted, by Will Bradshaw after his initial effort was saved, by the Southborough keeper, to make it 1-0 and break the deadlock.

Just three minutes later, FC Revo added a second, when Will Ashenden exploited cracks in the Southborough defence, to finish from close range.

In the 43rd minute, with Southborough heads falling, Matt Miles finished, clinically for FC Revo, to make it 3-0 to the home side.

The second half saw Southborough revitalised, while FC Revo struggled for some time, to break down the opposition to be able to add to their score.

In the 77th minute FC Revo won a penalty and it was converted low to the keeper’s right, by Cam Brown.

At full time the FC Revo players came together with their manager and talked about the history of the club and the hard work put in by so many, to lead towards the success this season. They then popped champagne corks and celebrated by lifting the Sevenoaks and District Premier League Title.
