This Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division match was played between Crowborough Athletic (Sky blue shirts and Navy Blue shorts) and Fisher FC (Tangerine shirts and white shorts).

The Crowborough Community Stadium has a decent clubhouse, bar and changing facilities as well as two covered seating stands. The club produce a professional programme for only £1.00 and there was plenty of free car park provision.

The Matchday teams showed that Fisher’s top scorer Lee Weemes, is still absent, although Malachi Coker with two from four games, plays. Crowborough had their two top scorers, Rhys Bartlett and Jacob Lambert, both with two from three games, named in the matchday team.

The half started brightly with good attacking play and accurate short passing by both teams. Rhys Bartlett went close for Crowborough and Ed Sharman for Fisher had a good chance when through on goal.

Then on 25 minutes Courtney Swaby curled a corner directly into the goal to put Fisher 0-1 up.
Both Crowborough and Fisher continued to attack throughout the first half. Swaby caused problems on the right and Gibbon on the left for Fisher.

Crowborough played mainly long balls although later on, as the half ended, a combination of Welsh and Bartlett seemed to realise that they had the advantage of pace over the Fisher centre halves and two close chances were created. Despite this, at half time Fisher led the home team, by a goal to nil.

Within two minutes of the restart, Crowborough were level. The Fisher keeper dropped the ball and Dom Welsh was on hand, to fire the ball home and make it 1-1.

Both sides gave their all until the final whistle, playing attacking football and with a range of shots when opportunities arose. Neither side could quite unlock the other and the exhaustion reflected in the players at the end of the game was evidence of the commitment shown.

Long balls can sometimes work!
