Ringwood Town v QK Southampton – Tuesday 24th September 2024 – Ringwood Community Hub

I made a dash after a later finish at work, to Ringwood, on the fringes of Bournemouth, to see a Southampton Senior Cup fixture between Ringwood Town of the Wessex League Division 1 and QK Southampton FC of the Hampshire Premier League.

Main Stand

The Ringwood community hub boasts a new clubhouse, as well as a 3G and grass pitch facility. The grass pitch was in beautiful condition tonight under the modern and powerful floodlighting.

Tonight’s visitors, QK Southampton have had a torrid start to their season, sitting bottom of the Hampshire Premier League, with just a draw and six defeats to show from their opening seven games. Their goals have come from Joshua Sennatt, Ethan Anders, Ryan Long and Ayman Aftab (All 1 goal), but manager Matt Harrington will have known that his side have conceded 35 goals in 7 matches compared to the 4 they have managed to score.

Ringwood Town came into tonight’s fixture in a more comfortable twelfth place, having secured 11 points with three wins, 2 draws and three defeats from their eight games. Their goals have largely come from Lee Vint (6 goals), Luke Pothas and Patrick Correia (both 2 goals) but it has been their excellent defensive record, conceding only 12 goals in 8 games, which has been the strength thus far. Manager, Francois Mathers would have expected his side with home advantage and playing a team from a lower league, to build some cup success in tonight’s game, but cup football, being unpredictable, ensures nothing is assured!

8-0

At full time Ringwood Town had comprehensively defeated QK Southampton FC. All that could be said for the away side was that they never stopped battling. Praise needs to be given to Leo Goncalves who remained alert and a real threat even in the 90th minute. However the man of the match award needs to go to Albie Turner who scored the first every double hat-trick I have ever seen live.
